After placing on three separate occasions in his first ten starts, Cheers looked ready in his third up run for the preparation to score his Maiden win. In a 1968 metre Maiden at Yarra Valley on March 31st 2025, jockey Jamie Mott had Cheers settling just of midfield early on. With a back marker taking off early, Jamie followed suit and had Cheers in striking distance on the turn, and the son of Sepoy outstayed his rivals to score a 1.25 length margin win.
